Coos Bay Home invasion robbery

On July 9, 2010 at 1951 hrs, the Coos Bay Police Department responded to a 911 call of a home invasion robbery at 914 Harris Ave. Victim, Florence Brazil, told police that a woman with a baby had contacted her and asked for a drink of water and the use of her phone. Brazil said that two men were with the woman and child, and after Brazil provided the female with the drink and phone, the group attacked her.

Florence Brazil was assaulted and then secured to a chair with duct tape. The woman and men then ransacked the home stealing jewelry, a small amount of cash, liquor, and a hand gun.

Upon police arrival, a search for the suspects began immediately with two Coos Bay Police K-9 teams. The Coos County Major Crime Team was activated and officers from SCINT, Coos County Sherriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Coquille Police, Coos County District Attorney’s Office, Department of Human Services- Child Welfare, Coquille Tribal and North Bend Police Department assisted in the investigation.

The search for the suspects continued into the evening, and all three suspects were located at an apartment on South Wasson St. The suspects were arrested on the above listed charges and transported to the Coos County Jail. The child was also located and placement of the child was arranged with DHS.

The investigation and recovery of the stolen property is continuing at this time. Florence Brazil was treated and released from Bay Area Hospital. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Coos Bay Police Department at 541-269-8911.
