Once a Pirate gets going they never give up.  The MHS Varsity Boys basketball team keeps on moving towards a State title this year and in their first round they have beaten their rival, the Thurston Colts.  Thanks to amazing teamwork and leadership from both coachers and players the Pirates continue to tear up the court on their way to victory.  In last nights game the Marshfield Pirates beat the Thurston Colts 47 to 42.  The game was an intense one and the stadium was filled to the brim with students, parents, and visitors who all got to see an amazing game.

The first half of the game was incrediable.  Marshfield and Thurston both came out strong and the plays they made were amazing.  The Pirates were passing and shooting with the efficiency of a well oiled machine.  Dalton Milburn picked up the game and scored three baskets in the first quarter alone.  Kyle Tedder, team captain and senior, threw amazing passes and never let up on the pressure.  Marshfield's main goal for this game was to keep pressure on each of the other team in hopes that the pressure would force the Colts to mess up.  Ty Cutting came out in the second quarter with his teammate Joey Morgan and together they ran the court.  The two were unstopable and by the end of the first half the Pirates had 24 and the Colts had 19.

The second quarter was when everything heated up.  Colton Thurman was placeing the ball into the hands of his fellow teamates with precision and speed.  Dalton Milburn was keeping pressure on those players under the net while Cody Dew weaved around stealing balls.  Cody Dew, a senior, had an amazing game last night were he scored two three pointers and many lay-ups.  Kyle Tedder led the team on deffense and offense and he himself had over three three pointers and around five lay-ups.  As the clock hit one minute to go the Pirates began to increase the tempo.  They started passing faster and stronger and they increased the pressure.  Thanks to the passing, shooting, pressure, and teamwork the Marshfield Pirates were able to win their first State round and adavance in the bracket.  Their next game occurs on Febuary 26 at Marshfield Highschool at seven.
