The North Bend High School girls basketball team hosted the Astoria Fisherman for the first round of state championship playoffs where with much determination and agressive play came out with a victory. The ending score was North Bend (53)-(42) Astoria.
The North Bend girls took an early seven point lead on the Fishermen before they even let their opponent score. The bulldogs kept their heads in the game with a tough defense stepping in from Astoria the girls found it continuously more difficult to score but managed to find holes in the Fishermens nets to swim through and score. Astoria's girls always returned with the same intentions as North Bend but could not as often sneak a ball into the net. As the game drew on both teams played agressive constantly pulling fouls and diving to the ground for loose balls. Gaining closer to the end of the game North Bend had drawn a somewhat comfortable lead in which they took advantage of by making exquisite passes and slow controlled plays. When it came down to the last 30 seconds North Bend had a 13 point lead that soon enough lead to their victory over the Fishermen. This is just the first of what is hopefully many games in the State Playoffs and the girls are just that much closer to their State title and are wished the best of luck.
