North Bend hosted their annual girls powder puff football game where the seniors and freshman take on the sophomores and juniors. It was a good time as the fans cheered on their classmates to push against each other. The field, although flag football, was filled with hard hits and true aggravation as they played harder and harder as the night moved on. It was fun for all and as the women walked off the field with bruises and tired bodies, they had gained good memories even with the bad weather.

North Bend High School hosted their final home meet of the year having Bandon, Reedsport, and Douglas attend. The sky was clear but the wind was blowing through the field. Just before the beginning of the meet the North Bend Seniors ran through a tunnel of friends and team mates and were honored by the retiring head coach Steve Greif. An honor was also awarded to the retiring coach in the form of a relay baton from all the years he coached the track team. North Bend had an amazing victory over the schools with both their guys and girls. Stats of the meet can be found at http://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/MeetResults.aspx?Meet=94130#167.

North Bend Hosted the Far West League Invite where Siuslaw, Douglas, Brookings, South Umpqua, and Sutherlin all competed through the wind, cold, and rain for a spot on the board at this meet. All the athletes were bundled up in their sweats trying to keep warm as mother nature never let up but it did not hold back the athletes from giving it their all and continuing on. In the Mens and Womens teams Siuslaw took home the first place victory and on the Womens side North Bend had second in their hands. On the Men's side North Bend kept third just behind Douglas. Salutes to the athletes for their determination despite the bad weather and resisting conditions.

The North Bend boy's tennis team hosted opponent North Eugene where North Bend came out with an 8-0 victory over North Eugene. As the matches started North Bend took a dominating lead with most of thier matches in the Boys and Girls Club. North Eugene seemed to stand no chance against the players from North Bend but in all played their best. This appears to be just a warm up for North Bend as they start to look foreward to the upcoming district match not too far away.

The North Bend High School boys tennis team traveled to Grants Pass High School where they faced off their top twelve players. Grants Pass was the expected victor in this match-up but North Bend did better than expected. Though North Bend came out with a loss they performed better than expected. The first spot singles player for Grants Pass was out but it didn't stunt them in their singles players as they still won all four of the singles matches. As for the doubles North Bend showed their true talent as they won the second, third, and fourth slot doubles games. Only the first spot lost as North Bend experiments with their second and third place singles players as a talented doubles team and it almost paid off as the match went to a tiebreaker for the third set and as both teams needed 10 points it went 9-9 and after a long rallying point Grants Pass got a perfect smash into the court and it was not returned. Both schools performed great but Grants Pass came out with the win at a final score of North Bend (3 Games) - (5 Games) Grants Pass. |
