Current Standings
Lady Lakers did something incredible today, as they defeated Skagit Valley CC in a nail-biting game. They earned their first win this season and have plenty of confidence as they look to beat their next rivals. Lady Lakers won 3-2 and keep reading below to find out how the Lakers came up with a win. The game began on a sunny day, it was actually the perfect day for a good ol' game of Soccer. Fans took advantage of the day to come out and support Laker Soccer. Regardless of having won no games coming into this one, the fans sat down and cheered for the Lakers. Skagit Valley's Alicia Silva scored the first point of the game at the 29th minute. At halftime the score was 1-0 with Skagit Valley in the lead. Alicia Silva for Skagit Valley, for a second time scores a second goal at the 53rd minute to put the Skagit Valley team up 2-0, but as any experienced soccer fan, they all know that means nothing. 2-0 leads is a scary lead to hold in any soccer game regardless what team you are. Lakers didn't hesitate and kept working hard as Laker's Caitlin Sprenger #17 passes the ball to Maria Moylan #2, Maria dribbles through a couple defenders and shoots to score a point for the Lakers at the 77th minute. With the score, Lakers 1-2 Skagit, Lady Lakers needed one more goal to tie the game. Lady Lakers have tied two times already and were looking for more than a tie. One minute after Maria Moylan scores, Caitlin Sprenger with a pass from teammate Natalie Manning #4 scores another goal to tie the game. As Skagit Valley's day could not get any worse for them, Maria Moylan has a breakaway crosses the ball to teammate Caitlin Sprenger who was on a run towards the goal. The crossed ball sneaks by the goalie and finds Caitlin's foot for the score at the 79th minute! No way, is that even possible? Three goals in three minutes, well guess what on October 10, 2009 Lady Lakers were able to do the impossible to win their first game! This win will bring way more confidence to the Laker Team. Congratulations as they improve their record to 1-3-2 and move into 3rd place. Lady Lakers will be heading up to Salem, OR on October 14th, 2009 to play against a tough opponent, Chemeketa. Chemeketa currently is leading the South Division with an impressive 5-0-1 record. Wish your fellow Lady Lakers some luck and come out and support them in their next home game which will be taking place on October 17th, 2009 at 12:00 PM. (Player Interviews Coming Soon...Come Back Soon) .
