Fall Athletic Awards Night (December 1st, 2009)

Today on December 1st, 2009 the annual Falls Athletic Awards Night was held by Southwestern Oregon Community College. Inside the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute Lobby all SOCC Fall athletes were recognized and awarded for their individual efforts for the teams.

Congratulations Cross Country

The Cross Country team was presented first by Coach Dan Neal. He awarded all his athletes and mentioned all their achievements. There are two sophomores that will be done this year, Kendra Nelson and Emily Damon. Kendra and Emily have put in a lot of work both years and will be missed by the School and Cross Country Program next year.

Congratulations Men's Soccer

The Men’s Soccer Team was introduced by Coach Ray Fabien. He was very pleased with his team’s performance this year and enjoyed every athlete. The Men’s Soccer Team will miss their sophomores next year. John Berry, Than Bui, Ricardo Chavez, Alex Clark, Fernando Gonzalez, Danny Valencia have all dedicated two years to SOCC athletics. Coach Ray also gave out a few awards including best dressed, most inspirational, offensive and defensive player of the year and also manager of the year. Best dressed award was awarded to Sophomore Fernando Gonzalez. Most Inspirational Player was awarded to Freshman Tillerman Kroon. Offensive Player of the year was awarded to Freshman Manny Mendoza. Defensive Player of the year was awarded to sophomore John Berry. Manager Abel Romo (Me) was awarded Manager of the Year. It was a good group of kids this year and Coach Ray is looking forward to next year. He already has a line of recruits. Good Luck Men’s Soccer!

Congratulations Women's Soccer

The Women’s Soccer Team was presented by Coach Cole Brandeburg. He began by thanking his assistant coaches who both contributed a lot of their free-time to teach the Women’s Soccer Team some skills. Parker Sublette and Anita Cary did a very good job with assisting this year. Coach Cole had an amazing group of young ladies this year and enjoyed coaching them every minute of the season. Unfortunately he had to dismiss six of his players. They are sophomores and their times are up for SOCC Soccer. They all were an important part to the team and will be missed. Stephanie Bugli, Courtney Harrington, Jacklyn Richardson, Sarah Smith, Jolena Smith, Mariska Somers all put in plenty work in both their seasons. They will always be remembered and missed by Coach Cole.

Congratulations Volleyball

Volleyball Girls were presented by Coach John Speasl. Coach Speasl had a lot of fun with his team this year. He presented all his players and praised their hard work throughout the season. He thanked all his sophomores and wished them good luck. His sophomores this year were Maria Ciccarelli, Dena Helme, Katie jolliffe, Kelly Lester, Rose Mattson, Jessica Ott, Taylor Scott. Coach Speasl is looking forward to next season and so are we.

We hate to say good-bye to the Fall Athletics, but unfortunately they are over. They will come back next year, but now we have Winter Athletics to support. Men’s and Women’s Basketball will begin their season on January 9th, 2009. Wrestling will also start up during winter. So standby and support your Laker Athletes.
